Harmony Day On Monday 22nd March we celebrated Harmony Day, recognising the diversity of Australia and valuing all cultures and backgrounds. Children and teachers wore something organe and completed activities in class. Ask your child which ‘hard’ is theirs displayed around the school!
Athletics Carnival On Tuesday 8th March we travelled to Knox Athletics Track for our House Athletics Carnival. Congratulations to Mr Orenshaw for organising such a wonderful day! Our numbers were a little impacted by COVID, but the weather held off and couldn’t dampen the spirits of the competitors.
Thank you to our school families! We are very proud o the programs we offer at Monbulk primary School, including our STEM program. Here we can see two future STEM engineers programming their robot to knock down the wall of cups.
Supporting Student Wellbeing Children have made an extraordinarily settled start to the year. They have settled into learning and school routines very quickly and easily, and shown great resilience through continued disruption.
Learning together in 2022 Welcome to Monbulk Primary School for 2022. I trust that you had a chance to spend time together with friends and family, and take some time to refresh.
2021 in Review Another year is coming to a close! We had such high hopes for 2021 after the trials of 2020. However, as always happens, our year did not go as expected. We had a wonderful start to the year with our Grandparent’s day on the Oval, the Book Fair, Swimming Program, Letter land Day, the House Athletics Carnival and Gr 5/6 Camp.
Cause for Celebration! Over the past couple of years there have been many changes at Monbulk PS. In making these changes I carefully considered how teachers and the school could help every child achieve their learning potential.
Remembrance Day Observance Today we paused to mark Remembrance Day to honour those who have died in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. Our School Captains led the observance and we stood for one minute’s silence.
Welcome back! It is wonderful to finally be able to welcome back students to face to face learning. We have had a staggered return, and expect all children back onsite on Wednesday 3rd Nov.
Returning to school Over the next three weeks we are transitioning back to onsite learning through a staggered return of year levels. We are very excited to welcome our students back to school so that we can continue to learn, grow and play together.
Thank you This term began with excitement and anticipation. We were going to be moving into our new spaces, and we would see a reward for all of the mud, noise and disruption to our school. We were in our spaces and new building for a brief time before moving in to a 3 day lockdown, which has now become 7 weeks. Our building program continues, but without students in our classrooms a school is a strange place.
Father’s Day Stall 3rd September 2021—Postponed Covid restrictions will still apply on 3rd of September therefore the Father’s Day stall will be postponed until students are back onsite. Dads it will feel like you get two Father’s Days !!! Love and family time on the 5th of September and the giving of gift goodies once the kids return to school in term 4.
Book Week Next week will be the first part of our Book Week celebration. When we are onsite, we will have our Book Week Parade on Fri 10th September. On Friday 27th August we are having a whole school Book Week celebration remotely. We have some special things planned to help you enjoy the day.
….and we’re in! At long last we are able to move our Gr 5/6 students in to their new classrooms. The spaces are wonderfully light, warm and welcoming. The students and teachers have settled in really well. The Linkway in the junior building is open, and so we are once again connected.
The Big Move Despite the lockdown our builders have finished and handed over the building for us to move in. Our Curriculum Day on Mon 26th July allows teachers to finish unpacking and setting up the 6 classrooms which are moving, and the sports storage. It’s a big job! No onsite supervision is available for the Monday, and there will be no curriculum prepared or Live Lessons delivered.
Celebrating the term We have had a roller coaster of a term together. We started off with the House Athletics Carnival, Prep Letterland Day, Mother’s Day Stall, NAPLAN, Gr 5/6 Camp….and the remote learning again.
Extreme Weather Conditions The weather last Wednesday was horrific, I’m glad to report there has been no damage to the school and have not heard of any injures in our school community. Power, phones and internet are up and running again. Thank you to our emergency service workers for your tireless efforts keeping our community safe.
We’ve had a wonderful fortnight at Monbulk Primary School. On Fri 30th April we celebrated Letterland Day with our Prep students. We were celebrating their learning of all the alphabet letters and sounds.
Welcome back! Welcome back to Monbulk PS for Term 2. We have started the term with our House Athletics Carnival at Knox Athletics Track. A wonderful day was had by all, and the costumes and House pride was very evident.
End of Term 1 We have had a wonderful term together as we settled back in to a routine after a very different 2020. We have had a number of changes already, even this early in the year. Our new Preps look great in their yellow hats, and our Buddy Program has helped our Preps settle in and feel welcome.
It’s all happening here! We are having some fantastic events to round out our first term together. Congratulations to the SRC Captain Jackson H, and the School Leaders who organised our first Disco for the year. The children raised a lot of money, which will be spent on toys, board games and sport equipment decided on by students. We all had such a fun time dancing and singing together.
Welcome Mrs Rachel Suckling – Teacher Gr 3/4B Mrs Suckling has been teaching Gr 3/4 B for nearly 2 weeks now.
Last Friday we sprung in to action to prepare for our circuit-breaker lockdown. Teachers worked brilliantly to prepare work for students to take home and work on, without a full return to remote learning.
We’re settling back in to being onsite all together. It’s great to see all of our students getting used to being back together throughout the day.
